ATTORNEY
At Liberty Mutual Insurance (formerly SAFECO), I handled a wide variety of civil lawsuits for commercial claims as well as some personal lines claims. Many cases were excess or reservation of rights cases. Cases involved construction defect, veterinarian and insurance agent professional negligence, auto cases, construction injury and cases under Oregon’s Employer Liability Law, real estate fraud and realtor negligence for Select Markets, timber trespass, fire loss and questions involving issues of leasehold interests, “open range” law injury, slip and falls, trademark infringement and a myriad of others.

At the request of the claims Department, I arranged for and supervised investigation, expert retention, and review in cases where litigation was anticipated. I worked with various experts including engineers, biomechanical professionals, architects, contractors, realtors, veterinarians, CPA’s, fire loss, rehabilitation, and medical professionals. My clients ranged from individuals and small businesses to large major corporations. I represented SAFECO in negotiation of a large workers’ compensation lien that the company had in a personal injury case filed by a Portland attorney in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington.
All court appearances were in either the State or Federal Courts. I was one of 13 designated senior lawyers at SAFECO nationally when the Liberty Mutual Insurance sale was completed. I handled cases in both the Oregon State Courts, the US District Court for Oregon, as well as in the trial courts of the State of Washington.
